When I created the character, I kind of thought of Howard Hughes because he was an adventurer, an inventor, a millionaire in those days, and he was strange. To me Downey wasn’t a superhero; he was Chaplin. But the instant I saw him I said, “He’s Iron Man.” I think it’s the greatest bit of casting ever.
